Make a difference

As a non-profit organization, Horsefeathers greatly relies on the devotion and energy of its many volunteers to keep our program running on a day to day basis. Our volunteers are all ages (13 years and up), come from all walks of life and share a cooperative spirit and willingness to “pitch in”. Volunteers at Horsefeathers participate in all facets of our program and enjoy seeing our riders progress week to week.

Volunteer work consists of barn chores, horse care, grooming, tacking up, assisting with rides in the arena, office work, helping with fundraising and our special events.

Horsefeathers partners with colleges and universities by offering pre-professional mentoring opportunities for students in related fields of study such as: veterinary/equine science, biology, education, health services, nursing, occupational therapy, speech therapy and physical therapy. Currently, Horsefeathers also serves as a Level 1 Occupational Therapy Fieldwork site for two universities.

Horsefeathers provides training in a supportive environment - previous horse experience is not required.
